TV Art Auctions

Have you ever watched some of the art auctions on TV and noticed how they say the item is valued for $30,000 but they will sell it for pennies? I find it amusing because people think they are getting a $30,000 painting for pennies on the dollars but try and re-sell that painting and I bet you don't even come close to your purchase price let alone $30,000.
